Children’s Liturgy of the Word

Children’s Liturgy of the Word

Each Sunday at the 10:30 Mass (September through Easter), children are invited to come downstairs for the first half of Mass for Children’s Liturgy of the Word. Led by Dr. Elizabeth Woodard, pastoral associate, the children’s liturgy does many of the same things the adults do upstairs, but in a child-friendly way. Scriptures are broken open with skits, music, props, and interactive discussion. If you are looking for an opportunity for your child to embrace the Word of God in a way that is geared toward children, please join us! A team of volunteers takes turn leading weekly worship, so kids hear from different adults and teen volunteers each week. Children begin and end Mass upstairs with parents and come forward for a special blessing before being led downstairs. Children are led back upstairs prior to the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Children’s liturgy is appropriate for youth of all ages, but we ask that children younger than 4 be accompanied by an adult or older sibling. If you are interested in volunteering to serve on a children’s lit team, please contact Elizabeth Woodard at
